Affiliate disclosure
How this site makes money.
Short version: right now it doesn't. Here's what happens when that changes.
Where things stand today
There are currently no affiliate links anywhere on this site. Every post published so far links to nothing that earns anything. If you clicked a product mention today, nobody would get paid.
That will change eventually, and this page will change with it. It's here now so the policy is written down before there's any money involved, rather than after.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a link that tags the click, so if you go on to buy something, the site earns a small commission from the retailer. It costs you nothing extra. The price is the same as it would be if you'd found the product on your own.
What you'll see when they arrive
When a post contains affiliate links, it will say so at the top of that post, in plain language, before you read anything else. Not in the footer. Not in small grey text at the bottom after you've already read the recommendation.
This post contains affiliate links. If you buy through them, I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I've personally bought and used.
That's the wording. It'll be near-identical every time, so it's easy to spot.
What a commission does not change
The rule for recommending something is the same whether there's a link on it or not: it was bought with my own money, used in a real house long enough to form an opinion, and written up either way.
Nothing gets recommended because the commission is good. Things that didn't work still get named as things that didn't work, and there are several of those across the site already. A post where everything is great and everything is purchasable is not an honest post, and it isn't the kind that gets published here.
Sponsored content
There is none, and there won't be for a long while. No brand has paid for a mention, sent a free product, or been shown a draft before it published.
If that ever changes, it will be disclosed in exactly the same place and the same plain language as an affiliate link, and it will only happen for something that would have been written about anyway.
Programs
When affiliate programs are joined, the likely first ones are Amazon Associates, ShareASale, and Impact. As a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, this site would earn from qualifying purchases. This section will name the actual programs once any are live.
Some things will never carry a link here regardless of what they pay: MLM products, detox or cleanse products, supplements, and anything sold on a claim the evidence doesn't support. That list is in the about page too, and it isn't negotiable.
Questions
If something on this site reads like an ad and isn't labelled like one, that's a mistake worth telling me about. hello@simpurely.com.
